Last night as I returned from my brother's recitle I got the news from one of my former roommates who lives in utah that our dear prophet Gordon B. Hinckley had passed away. I was filled with a mixture of emotions as I recieved and processed this news. President Hinckley has been prophet for most of my youth and early adult life. It's hard to imagine not seeing him in conference and partaking of his spirit and wisdom. While I was experienceing sadness at his passing I was simultaniously thinking how wonderful for Pres. Hinckley that he is no longer seperated from his wife. I am so grateful for the blessings of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I can't imagine living without the knowledge that we can be together forever in the eternities. I am also grateful for the knowledge that preisthood keys remain on the earth and that with Pres. Hinckley's passing there is not chaos and concern over who will preceed him. How comforting is the knowledge that God has provided us with order and that we can all gain our own witness of the truthfulness of each prophet's calling. I know that God leads his church today through his prophets who are called and ordained. I have come to a knowledge of the truthfulness of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ through personal revolation and I am so grateful for the blessings this knowledge brings into my life. As I was reflecting on Pres. Hinckley's last words to us in the october general confrence I found it interesting that he focused on the restoration. Pres. Hinckly ended his address by saying
"To you, this day, I affirm my witness of the calling of the Prophet Joseph, of his works, of the sealing of his testimony with his blood as a martyr to the eternal truth. Each of you can bear witness of the same thing. You and I are faced with the stark question of accepting the truth of the First Vision and that which followed it. On the question of its reality lies the very validity of this Church. If it is the truth, and I testify that it is, then the work in which we are engaged is the most important work on the earth. I leave you with my testimony of the truth of these things, and I invoke the blessings of heaven upon you. May the windows of heaven be opened and blessings showered upon you as the Lord has promised. Never forget that this was His promise and that He has the power and the capacity to see that it is fulfilled."
How exciting it will be to see Pres. Monson take the mantle of prophet and president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!!

Thanks for this, and thanks for the text message! We heard it first from you. I am also very grateful for the confidence that comes with the organization of the Church. We can miss President Hinckley while looking forward to the next chapter of Church leadership.
How wonderful to have daughter who is so valiant in her testimony. I love you and I am very grateful for you and all that you do!
