Taking Shape

Well after much time in limbo land I'm pleased to report the future is taking shape. Th picture above is of the Portland State Main Campus sky bridge. I got an email from Portland State's Masters of Social Work program yesterday saying I have been accepted for Fall into their 2 year MSW program!! Obviously I'm pretty excited. I had been a bit anxious the last few days before the email came knowing that I should be getting word any day. The thing I was most afraid of was surprisingly not rejection but getting onto the alternate list again. I wanted to either hear yes or no so I could get some semblance of closure and move on with plans. When I saw the email address I was like....can I handle opening this tonight? I realized when I opened it and it was acceptance that I really had prevented myself from making any plans in that direction and that now I had all kinds of things I could plan. That in and of itself was a relief. I have all summer to enjoy myself knowing that come September I will be a full time student. I was accepted to the 2 year program where they recommend no outside employment due to the fast pace of learning & the internships. I'm excited to enter this next step and even more excited to stay in Oregon with it looking like Jayme and Virginia moving back in June.
Sorry it's been so long since I posted. I have been playing house...by that I mean taking care of my mom and pretty much taking her role. I have been making all the meals, doing grocery shopping, cleaning, and making sure my mom gets to all her appointments and does her physical therapy (which usually involves her telling me how much she hates me as I cheerfully count off how many more reps she has left). We have managed to get the kitchen all moved back in and almost completely decorated, this has been interesting with my mom still recovering from knee surgery. Today I was holding up a metal thing we bought to go on the wall and I was standing at the very top of a 8 foot ladder asking my mom what she thought of it and she said "I think it looks good there, here let me hold it and you see what you think"....yeah right! Things stay pretty busy with physical therapy appointments and doctor appointments and the like but I haven't really been up to much. It has been nice to have the experience of helping care for my grandpa to compare to my mom's recovery process. I think having experienced it twice before makes me more understanding and patient with her recovery process compared to the rest of the family.

congrats!! And yay! THis means that I will have another friend living up here. I am excited for you. And by the way, you are a saint. Taking care of your mom, not strangling your family... you know, you are the coolest!

Seriously.....I have to second what megan said. YOU ARE A SAINT. I will now change your name to Jessica ST.HELEN Glasmann. And I gave Keegan the good news tonight about you moving up here - he wants you to know, you should move REALLY close and you can ride with us to the zoo and the children's museum. :-) He was excited! Love you!

Sainthood and acceptance to that graduate program could not be given to anyone more worthy. I'm soooo happy for you Jess! And totally jealous that Jackie gets to live so close to you.
